Julia Glushko's thrilling run at the US Open ended in round three as she was edged out in a three-set thriller against Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia.

The Israeli star was reflected to reflect on a missed opportunity as she failed to capitalise on four match points at Flushing Meadows.

Italy's Camila Giorgi continued her excellent form to reach round four with a brilliant victory over sixth seed Caroline Wozniak.

After losing the first set 6-4, Giorgi bounced back in style against the former world no. 1 to win 6-4, 6-3 to set up matvh against compatriot and 10th seed Roberta Vinci for a place in the quarter-finals.

Giorgi struck 46 winners on her way to victory in two hours and 32 minutes. Shortly after coming off the Arthur Ashe Stadium, she said: "I was focused for every point. I think I played better tactically, maybe. When the ball came, I just tried to hit it in the corners."

Wozniaki commented: "I felt like I needed to push her back but she took very high-risk shots and things were going in for her. She was going for the lines and hitting them when she wanted to."

Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich went out in the second round of the Men's Singles. The Israeli pairing tumbled out 4-6, 7-5, 6-7 (2-7) against Yen-Hsun Lu and Divij Sharan.
