Giorgi passes first test at Australian Open

Camila Giorgi came through a tough first-round contest on Day Two of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The Italian came from a set down to beat Storm Sanders of Australia 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the Ladies Singles competition.

Victory sets up a meeting with 25th seed Alize Cornet of France in round two. Cornet enjoyed an easy win over Polona Hercog who retired after the first game of the match.

There was disappointment for Wayne Odesnik in the Men's Singles. He suffered a first-round defeat against Vincent Millot of France.

The American went down 5-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-1, 6-3.
