articlemain

London Maccabi Lions have appointed James Gershfield as assistant-manager of the Sunday A team.

Gershfield has been involved at Lions as a player for many years and played for the Saturday first team, as well as winning everything in Jewish football with Lions before moving on to play at a higher level with Wingate & Finchley, QPR, as well as a spell in the USA with Fort Lewis. He is currently playing for Potters Bar in the Ryman League.

Gershfield is a young, yet experienced coach, who will strengthen the newly charged Lions MFSL A team.

LML A interim manager Andy Landesberg said: "James is a fantastic addition to our team, and I know together we will encourage and inspire our squad to forge ahead and start to get us back to where we need to be.

"Within just the first week we have created a new spirit that will form the backbone of our move forward. The whole Club is buzzing at James returning home to Rowley Lane."

Gershfield commented: "This is such a great Club, with superb facilities and a great history. I cannot wait to get started."

Gershfield will take his first training session on Thursday night at Rowley Lane.
