Gerbi and I still get on just fine, says Schlesinger

articlemain

Alice Schlesinger insists there is no bad blood between her and former teammate Yarden Gerbi following her victory at the Russian Grand Slam competition.

Schlesinger, who now represents Great Britain, left Israel in 2014 after a dispute with the Olympic Association of Israel, who refused to allow her boyfriend, Pavel Musin, to coach her.

Having competed for Israel at the London 2012 and won a bronze medal in the 2009 World Championships, Schlesinger has British citizenship through her mother.

She beat Gerbi in the quarter-finals of the women's under 63 kilogram competition, although both judokas went on to claim bronze.

Schlesinger said, "There has never been any bitterness in my rivalry with Yarden and for me it was just another contest and I concentrated on professional feelings.

"I've come to terms with my new situation and I'm focusing on the future."
