Gee rues 'worst performance'

articlemain

Haroldeans boss Ivan Gee was left to reflect on his side’s ‘worst performance of the season’ after they surrendered their unbeaten record.

Sheldon Lee scored twice to give Manchester Maccabi 3rd a deserved 2-1 win over the Merseysiders in a hard-fought affair and end their nine-match winning streak.

James Harris’ goal was the only bright spot on an otherwise miserable day for Gee’s side as they slumped to their first league defeat of the season.

“We didn’t deserve to win and the boys know that it was their worst performance of the season,” he said.

“We had our chances but it was just a poor day all round. Maccabi played very well and deserved to win.

“They scored two headers from two set-pieces and perhaps we missed our captain Danny Burman in defence, because he’s a big presence for us.”

Haroldeans are now just six points clear following Oakhill’s win over Crumpsall but Gee is remaining positive.

“I can’t be angry with the boys because they’ve had a great start to the season,” he added.

“We’ll come back next week and make sure we go on another good run.”
