GB to start 19th Maccabiah against Germany

articlemain

Team GB will face Germany in their opening match in the Open football competition at next month’s Maccabiah Games.

Seeded two in the event, David Pollock’s troops will be aiming to win their first gold medal in the competition for more than 40 years. They face the Germans less than 24 hours after the Opening Ceremony at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem.

Pollock confirmed this week that Guy Morris will captain the squad who won gold at the European Maccabi Games in Vienna in 2011.

This caps an excellent couple of weeks for Morris who won the Manager’s Player of the Year at London Lions’ end-of-season awards.

Aron Barnes and Ben Ellis have been added to the GB squad.
