GB tennis stars impress in Berlin

articlemain

Team GB’s Junior tennis players served up great performances all round, particularly in the face of tough competition of international standard.

Three of the boys progressed to the quarter finals of the singles competition, with strong performances from Oliver Jacobson and Samuel Abrahams in particular.

The girls put up a strong fight in their respective matches, but were ultimately defeated by older and more experienced opposition from the United States and Germany.

Nonetheless, coach James Vaughan remains upbeat: “Despite some tough opposition, all the juniors represented Great Britain with pride and greatly enjoyed the experience.

"We are looking forward to the rest of the singles competition and feel quietly optimistic about the doubles tournament as well.”

The Open and Masters tennis teams saw greater success with Barry Danser, Charlie Sherrard, Victor Kevehazi, John Barnett and Sam Cohen all winning. The competition continues over the next few days.
