GB eyeing net gains in Vienna

Maccabi GB will send a six-man junior badminton squad to this summer's European Maccabi Games.

Several members of the group play at county level while all players have represented their schools.

Samantha Baum, the GB junior badminton manager, said: "This is the first time in nearly 20 years that we will be taking a junior badminton squad.

"The boys are putting in so much hard work and I am sure they will benefit from not only a wonderful experience but hopefully a successful one."

Four members of the delegation attend Yavneh College whose head teacher, Dr Dena Coleman, said: "Being chosen to represent Maccabi GB at the European Games is a great honour.

Preparations started with the squad winning 11 out of 12 matches in their first competitive match against SCOBE of the Hertfordshire Schools Badminton Association Junior Badminton League.

Squad: Harrison Baum, Dan Cohen, David Garcia, Yossi Goodlink, Sammy Kingston, Ben Winters
