JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND ONE
TEMPLE FORTUNE A 2 FAITHFOLD C 3 AET

David Garson's men produced a shock against first division Temple Fortune A at Gosling with goals coming from Ben Simons (2) and Matt Smith.

Faithfold rode their luck and survived considerable pressure. They broke to lead 1-0 and then 2-1 after an equaliser. Fortune levelled again but couldn't put away chance after chance.

David Garson, who kept goal for the Hoops, had a blinder, whilst Fortune hit the bar five times. Rob Benson and Michael Goldberg scored for Fortune.

Faithfold snatched the winner in the last minute of extra time with penalties looming.

Faithfold player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "We played excellently against a well-organised team from the division above.

"Everyone played very well and we passed the ball as we know we can do. I'm very proud of the boys today and hopefully now we can build from this and push on in the league as well as doing well in the cups as we did last season."

Fortune boss Lee Fegan said: : "We put them under so much pressure, hit the bar a few times and missed two one-on-ones. And their keeper was unbelievable.

"Some sloppy defending gifted them goals and we just couldn't find the net when we should have. So all in all a very disappointing exit but full credit to Faithfold.

"They took their chances and rode their luck, but that's football! We wish them well in the next round."
