articlemain

A fantastic batting and bowling display saw London Maccabi Vale 1st dispatch Finchley in the Middlesex Sunday League by 223 runs in an absolute mauling at Rowley Lane

Fine displays by the returning Daniel Becker, who scored a magnificent 132 containing 18 4’s and one six in a gorgeous innings, plus 72 from the reliable Richard Black, who together with Becker added a superb 211 in 30 overs , a quickfire 42 from Scott Gerard and a simply rapid 81 from 30 balls from skipper Adam Brand, including seven 6s, ensured that LMV ended on a huge total of 337-3 in their 40 overs. This was the team’s second consecutive score in excess of 300. Gerard and Brand added 107 in seven overs.

Saul 'jelly' Weitzman blew the Finchley top order away with a devastating spell of 5-29, his first five wicket haul in five years. It was certainly a day where he had said his prayers in the morning and perhaps the Finchley No. 4 had forgotten his and he was aided by Daniel Cohen (2-31). The game was wrapped up by debutant Rafi Polatinsky who bowled some really fiery deliveries in his 3-16.

Wycombe House are LMV’s next league opponents on Sunday.
