SHONN TROPHY
HEATON PARK ROVERS 6 HAROLDEANS 3

Heaton Park Rovers hitman Jonathan Franks rediscovered his scoring touch in devastating fashion to gun down Haroldeans.

Franks, the prolific striker, bagged four goals to overcome a mini-drought and end the Liverpool outfit’s involvement in this season’s Shon Trophy.

HPR can now look forward to a quarter-final tie with Reich Insurance Rangers, but boss David Seligman is already looking further ahead.

He said: "I feel we are a good side who can beat anyone in our league. We have some real quality in our side but it’s about getting that consistency there every week.

"This was a good win and Jonathan was back to his best here. We were winding him up before the game saying he had lost it after a little drought.

"He went on to score four goals and one of them, a first-time volley from a pass that came from over his shoulder, was one of the best I’ve seen."

Franks fired a first-half treble with the Merseysiders hitting back via Bobby Fishel, Adam Shiffman and Adam Cross.

But Harry Roache, Ben Annis and Franks completed the scoring as HPR marched through.

Haroldeans chief Fraser Saville added: "Our season is effectively over as we are out of both cup competition and we cannot win the league.

"We are playing for pride now so we will have to keep going and look to build for next season."
