Stuart Delmonte claimed it was a job well done after AFC Flixton recorded a mini-upset to book their League Cup quarter-final spot.

Super-sub Daniel Garmen struck with his first touch to send Accounts League Premier Division basement boys Iraq FC crashing out.

Promotion-chasing AFC Flixton, who are set to swap places with Iraq FC next season, now face another top-tier side in the Saints in the last-eight.

Joint-manager Stuart Delmonte said: "It was a scrappy win played out in windy and wet conditions.

"The important thing was to get through and we achieved our task, even though it was not pretty.

"We will have better days but it’s always a morale-booster to beat a side from the top division. Hopefully that is the level we will be at next season."
