articlemain

Glenthorne United A and South Mancunians joined Brady Maccabi A and EDRS Stonegrove in the semi-finals of the Henry Swerner Maccabi Masters Football League Cup. Adam Lennard, Sid Shaw, Andy Block, Ray Russell and Jon Diamond found the net as Glenthorne eased past Clayhall.

South Mancunians overcame Temple Fortune 5-1, courtesy of goals from Jon Cohen (3), Kevin Lotzov and player-manager Eric Elbaz. Steve Feiger scored Fortune’s consolation. In the league, Division One leaders Brady A had the narrowest of victories. They beat bottom-of-the-table Faithfold A 2-1 thanks to a last-minute winner from Jonny Cohen.

Faithfold’s Joel Nathan and Brady’s Marc Abrahams had already exchanged goals. London Maccabi Lions A hammered Brady B 7-2 thanks to goals from Spencer Steinberg (2), Tony Gold (2), Laurence Swerner and Craig Henry. Pete Sugarman and Barry Lampert replied. The Maccabi Masters Football League (MMFL) season will finish with a charity match at Watford’s Vicarage Road ground on May 18.

As part of Maccabi GB’s Community Kick Off, the Championship ground follows previous communal events which have been hosted at White Hart Lane, Stamford Bridge, Loftus Road, Boundary Park and Upton Park. Applicants must make a £200 donation to Maccabi GB. MMFL chairman Stuart Lustigman has announced that the second International Maccabi World Union Football tournament and tour will take place in Israel from November 4-11. For details call Stuart on 07796 956873.
