AJY Under 14:
Stonegrove Park 5 Hendon Hawks 3

A cracking game played in really good spirits on a dull, damp cold afternoon.

Stonegrove Park started brightly with Joseph Eskenazy and Daniel Kuber opening up a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes.

However Hendon Hawks were by no means beaten and quickly pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.

Stonegrove replied smartly opening up a two-goal lead again, but the response from the Hawks was more productive as they managed to draw level at 3-3.

First half scoring hadn't finished though as the Stones pulled another out of the bag. Adam Gold's head and a penalty from Daniel Kuber forming the Stonegrove goals.

Half time it was 4-3 and we expected a similar goal feast for the second half.

It was not to be. Great solid defending from Sam Simmons, man-of-the-match Michael Simons, Joseph Eskenazy, and Jordan Mizrahi with Edan Marks just in front stopped Hendon Hawks from mounting a real challenge.

Up the other end outstanding goalkeeping from the Hawks goalie kept the second half goal-less until with three minutes to go when Gold cleverly chipped the goalie from outside the area.

A late effort from Eliott Millet was ruled offside which was a pity as he deserved the reward for a fine performance.

Good game, good game with the result moving Stonegrove nicely up the league.
