West Riding County Cup
Cuedos Rangers 4 Leeds Maccabi 2nd 1
Leeds Maccabi 2nd tumbled out of the West Riding County Cup following a 4-1 defeat against Cuedos Rangers.

Manager Simon Fisher believes that regardless of the scoreline, this was by far the best performance from Maccabi 2nd this season.

A testing tie played against strong opponents saw the welcome return of experienced players Mark Korn, Gidi Amar, Jonny Skolnick and Charles 'Chinny' Simmonds to strengthen the team.

An even first half saw Leeds go in 2-0 down after a driven shot well parried by keeper Brian Lindley fell into the path of Ryan Price to hit home from six yards, and a headed goal from giant striker Mark Ruskin taking advantage of Leeds hesitancy.

Leeds' best period came straight after the break with a well taken goal by Matt Segal, cleverly laid on by Louie Fisher on 50 minutes.

A period of concerted pressure saw Leeds go close several times before a brilliant long distance strike for Cuedos broke Leeds resistance.

A hotly disputed fourth goal completed the scoring, but manager Fisher said he was happy with the "strong line-up and the fighting performance, which showed the team getting back to the competitiveness of last season".
