PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND TWO
FC TEAM B 1 BLIZZARD STORM 0

David Gordon praised his troops after FC Team booked their place in the next round of the National Cup with a hard-fought win over Division Two rivals Blizzard.

This tie was far from a classic, with very strong winds ensuring it wasn't one for the neutrals.

Team had the wind in the first half, but it was Blizzard who had the better chances - the best of them being a free header from six yards out which cleared the bar by some distance.

Team were the better team in the second half and had the better of the chances but weren’t able to get any conviction in their finishing. That was until the 75th minutes when a corner from Dan Alfreds was steered in by Paul Savitz, and the hosts defended resolutely to hold out until the final whistle.

FC Team player-manager David Gordon told JC Sport: "It was a good and hard-working performance from us in very difficult conditions.

"We stepped it up in the second half again and ran out deserved winners."

Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "That pretty much completes our season. It was a very close tie, but the moment we lost skipper Adam Speck at the 60-minute mark we had to reshuffle and lost our shape."
