PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND ONE
FAITHFOLD B 2 BOCA JEWNIORS 1

Faithfold progress to the next round of the Peter Morrison Cup after edging past second division Boca Jewniors in a tight contest.

The Superhoops started guns blazing, bombarding the Boca defence from all sides. Faithfold found the opener when Mike Patterson's precise through ball found captain Josh Barnett who neatly rounded the keeper and cooly slotted home.

After being caught offside a dozen times, Avi Garson finally managed to beat the offside trap and run past a couple of defenders before finally dribbling past the goalkeeper to double the lead.

Boca dominated the second half and home goalkeeper James Stanton denied them with a string of saves. His resistance was finally broken with nine minutes to go, a Boca player was fouled in the box and referee Martin Lavender pointed to the spot. Stanton guessed right but Jamie Leboff's shot was too well struck and crept in.

This made for a tense ending but it was too little too late for Boca and Faithfold progress to the next round.

Faithfold midfielder David Benaim told JC Sport: "It was a far from convincing display but what matters is that we won and we are in the next round.

"We face Boca in the league next week, they'll be quite confident but it'll be a different ball game. We are at the Hive and we'll have Fogelini, JJ and Bordon available again."

Boca manager Anton Nyman told JC Sport: "We started far too slowly and let in two in the first 10 minutes. Despite fighting back very well, it was too little too late and we left ourselves too much of an uphill task."
