Stephen Joseph is confident Team Maccabi GB Tennis can maintain their momentum from the 2017 Maccabiah Games and bring home silverware from the European Maccabi Games (EMG) in Budapest next summer.

MGB Tennis chairman Joseph will be assisted by coach Sophie Conway - The experienced duo previously worked together in Israel last year.

Speaking about his appointment, Joseph said: “Having played tennis for more than 50 years at club level and at previous Maccabiah, this will be my third time managing the Great Britain tennis squad and is an honour to be appointed again.”

Asked about his aims for the squad in Hungary, Joseph commented: “We won seven medals at the last EMG in Berlin in 2015, followed by five in Israel last year so it would incredible to improve on our previous record.

“The experience of being part of International Games with MGB is quite unique and if given the opportunity should not been missed.”

Conway is preparing to represent MGB for a fourth time. She has managed GB squads at two JCC Maccabi Games, in Fort Lauderdale and Connecticut, and “really looking forward” to her first European Maccabi Games.

“I feel very proud to be representing my country and Community with Maccabi GB and sharing the unique experience with many others,” remarked Conway.

“Our Junior squad really bonded in Israel last summer and despite not medaling, had the most amazing experience competing, supporting one another and building life-long friendships.”
