Euro golfers can bring home gold, says Green

Ben Green insists Team Maccabi GB Golf can maintain their winning formula ahead of next month's European Maccabi Games.

TMGB will send squads in the Open and Masters competitions in Berlin, led by player-managers Ben Brownson and Russell Nathan.

One player who hopes that history repeats itself is Zak Talbot, who won the Men’s Open Handicap Gold medal at the 2011 EMG in Vienna.

Sports Chair Ben Green returns to the role he oversaw at the 19th Maccabiah Games 2013 in Israel.

He said: "We are taking a fresh team of talent with an open-minded and enthusiastic outlook on the entire Maccabi experience.

Green, said: “This year, we are taking a fresh team of talent with an open-minded and enthusiastic outlook on the entire Maccabi experience.

"Our Masters and Open teams feature a mixture of talented players from across the country. The team includes previous leaders and competitors from other sports, along with those who have good competition experience.

Great Britain’s golfers performed exceptionally well four years ago earning a total of 16 medals, including a Team Gold.

Green commented: "Our aim is a repeat of the Gold medal haul we achieved in Vienna in 2011, across all team and individual categories. The best part about representing Great Britain at an International Games is the spirit, togetherness and sense of family the Maccabi experience brings.

"There is always a special feeling representing Team MGB and this will show in both our competitive and social spirit.”
