Erlich and Peer reach Wimbledon quarter-finals

articlemain

Israel's Jonathan Erlich and Shahar Peer have reached the last eight of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

The unseeded pair overcame Brits Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae in a gripping contest on Thursday afternoon.

Erlich and Peer won the first set 6-4 but they found themselves 4-1 down in the second as Fleming and Rae mounted a comeback.

However, doubles specialist Erlich was in inspirational mood, and together with Peer, they hit back to close out the match 7-5.

The reward is a clash against fourth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnin in match three on Court 12 on Friday.

Wimbledon is over for Andy Ram. He and Meghann Shaughnessy, seeded 15, were edged out in two tie-breakers against Paul Hanley and Su-Wei Hsieh.
