Oakwood B moved clear at the top as strikes from Ben Myers and Marc Hymanson steered them past Loughton Orient in Walthamstow.

Loughton Orient came out looking to restore some pride after last week's poor showing. The first 10 minutes could not have gone worse with Oakwood racing into an early two-goal lead.

Myers opened the scoring with a goal of the week contender before Hyamson made the points safe, scoring from a tight angle.

Thereafter the pitch deteriorated rapidly and made it hard for both team to play football although we had a few more good chances to seal the game.

However, if anyone though that Oakwood were going to run away with a comfortable win they were mistaken.

Orient grew in confidence and were starting to take control of the game with David Blitz and Josh Hambling winning the midfield battle on a poor pitch that was the same for both sides.

Hambling was unlucky not to pull a goal back before half time with a 20-yard strike that missed by a whisker.

The second half continued in the same way with Orient holding their own and battling for every ball and looking for an opening to get back in the game.

Unfortunately it did not come but Orient can be proud of how they took the game to Oakwood and will rue the first 10 minutes but take a lot of positives from the other 80 minutes.

Manager Dan Curtis told JC Sport: "We had a shaky start to the game which ultimately cost us, however I thought we were the better side for large parts of the match and were unlucky not to get back in it.

"I'm proud of the boys response and if we put that level of commitment in every week we will win more games than we lose and climb up the table."
