Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich completed their preparations for the US Open in style by winning the Vancouver Open Challenger Men’s doubles title.
The Israelis completed an impressive set of performances with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over James Cerratini and Adil Shamasdin.
Amir Weintraub (206) also caught the eye in Canada. He reached the main draw at the Montreal Masters with a 7-5, 7-6 victory over Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic (88) in the second qualifying round.
However, playing in his first Masters tournament, Weintraub slipped to defeat in the first round against Pablo Andujar (52) of Spain.
Julia Glushko (137) also made good progress in the Rogers Cup in Toronto. She reached the main draw with a 6-4 6-3 win over Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski (214).
Shahar Peer (113), Glushko and Weintraub will all be required to play in the US Open qualifiers later this month, but Dudi Sela (75) has earned automatic qualification for the event at Flushing Meadow.
