Double joy for Israel

Israel's Arik Ze'evi and Neta Rivkin have boosted their hopes of participating in next year's Olympic Games in London.

Ze'evi, 34, took gold at judo's Moscow Grand Slam with a victory in the under-100kg competition.

There was controversy in the quarter-finals when, after defeating Ramadan Darwesh, the Egyptian refused to shake Ze'evi's hand.

Ze'evi took bronze at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Looking ahead to 2012, he said: "It is slightly pretentious to talk about winning an Olympic medal at this stage. But I'm currently at a level that could see me take a medal."

Gymnast Rivkin, 20, became the first Israeli to win a medal at the Rhythmic European Championships after taking silver in Minsk. She competed in four different finals at the event and will be aiming to cement a place in the Israel squad by finishing in the top 24 at the forthcoming world championships.
