South moved back to the top of the table on Sunday with a great win over old rivals Mace which finished off their opponents' title ambitions.

With five first teamers unavailable, South showed their strength in depth with a great team performance. Mace came close in the first minute, but South slowly started dominating the game and a few chances went begging before Toby Levy beat the Mace defence for pace and coolly finished at the near post to put South ahead after 20 minutes.

For the remainder of the half, Mace were camped in their own half and it was only a matter of time before goal number two arrived and after a few guilt edge misses, Levy made it two with a brilliantly taken finish one-on-one with the keeper.

At half time, South knew the next goal was key and it came on the hour with a Jack Rowe glancing header from a well taken set piece. South decided to shut up shop as Mace resorted to long ball football, but the defence held firm until the last five minutes when Mace scored a consolation goal.

South boss Jody Marks told JC Sport: "I was delighted with the team effort today. We played a very strong Mace team who have proved to be our nemesis over the years and fully deserved our victory.

"It was an important victory, and with six games to go, we are perfectly positioned at the top of the table.

"We now go over to Leeds this weekend for our Morrison game (take 3). We go into the game as underdogs, but we are ready and are looking for it."
