Welwyn Garden City 2 London Lions 4

London Lions produced a tremendous performance starting 2012 with a fantastic 4-2 win away at Welwyn Garden City.

Braces from defender Adam Myeroff and Sam Sloma capped a fine display in a match where the Lions defied the odds.

They had no less than 30 players were unavailable, had one recognisable centre-half available and just one substitute. Added to that, manager Tony Gold was bed-ridden with a nasty virus.

Jon Green and David Snelman took control with Danny Berliner, Avi Schwarz, James Stanley, Dan Lipman and Aron Barnes all coming into the side for their first starts in several months.

The Lions made a flying start with defender Myeroff putting them in front from the penalty spot after just 30 seconds following a hand ball.

Welwyn turned the game on its head, scoring either side of half time, but a second spot-kick from the ice-cool Myeroff hauled the Lions level.

Lions then surged ahead 3-2 withSloma finishing superbly and then with 10 minutes remaining he killed the game with his second of the day and Lions forth.

Lions: Danny Berliner, Aron Barnes, Adam Myeroff, Ben Lampert, Sam Sloma, Aviel Schwarz, Andy Glynne, Josh Kennet, Dan Stanton, Matt Stock (sub: James Stanley), Dan Lipman
