A threadbare Lions team failed to build on their recent six-game unbeaten run, losing a close game away from home at Bedford by a 2-1 scoreline.

With only 12 players, available two of which had been ill all week, and missing Daniel Stanton, Mario Cenolli, Danny Berg, Aron Barnes, Josh Kennet, Michael Sacks, Connor Perlmutter and Matt Stock, Lions lacked the cutting edge which ultimately proved costly.

After a goalless first-half it was Craig Ellis that put Lions in front with a bullet header from Dean Nyman’s corner.

With 20 minutes remaining Nyman had a great chance to double that lead but he somehow headed wide from six yards.

Two attacking phases from Bedford which were not contained ended with two goals and proved decisive.
