North West London Jets under 14s began 2014 with a fantastic second-half display against HMH Athletic, securing a 3-2 victory in the Watford Friendly League Yellow Division.

HMH dominated the first half but could not break down the strong NWLJ defence, with Isaac Fahidi being the stand-out performer at the heart of the Jets defence. The HMH pressure eventually told as they swung in a free-kick that flicked off the head of a Jets defender past the on rushing Jets goalkeeper, Eli Meyer.

North West London Jets kicked off the second half and immediately were on the ascendancy, controlling the game with some excellent passing inter-play and fantastic movement in-between the HMH lines. It was not long until the Jets reaped the rewards for their passing football with Jonathan Eida exchanging a one-two with Matti Karp before cutting inside the HMH penalty area and slotting the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

HMH quickly responded with a goal against the run of play as a shot from the edge of the Jets penalty area was parried by Meyer on to the post, only for an HMH attacker to poach the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Eida continued to cause havoc in the HMH defence with a wonderful cross from the left-hand side that was latched onto by Raphael De Beck Spitzer whose shot was deflected off an HMH defender and into the top corner of the net.

De Beck Spitzer then grabbed his second through sheer persistence as he chased a long ball, over the top of the HMH back four, slotting the ball past the on-coming HMH keeper, to grab all three points for the Jets and a wonderful start to the new year.
