Danny Caro's Team of the Week - Week 18

articlemain

No less than 40 players were nominated for my Team of the Week. But when push came to shove, these lucky 11 just could not be ignored. Read on to find out why ...

Danny Berliner (NL Raiders A) – The Raiders No. 1 reminded everyone in Jewish football just why he’s one of the best. He produced a string of top-class saves to keep L’Orange in the game against their bogey team, Neasden B, and gave them a platform to nick a late victory.

Shai Shohat (Shirley Park) – most people believed that the Park boys would wipe the floor with Fortune B. But they almost came a cropper against a well-drilled team. And had it not been for the focus of Shohat, who

Jamie Warwick (Brixton Old Boys) – Warwick was one of 11 men nominated by manager Jon Nitka. For 89 minutes, his heroics kept Norstar at bay. Another shrewd signing by manager John Nitka, Warwick is a cool, calm and collected defender, and, on this performance, there’s every chance that he will finish the season with silverware.

Russell Leiter (Redbridge Jewish Care A) – Leiter was one of six players nominated by RJC boss Sam McCarthy. He was a tower of strength at the back, alongside the ever-reliable Adam Hakimi, and ensured that there was no way through for the Lions.

Matt Greene (NL Raiders C) – “ran the game against Neasden C, another superb performance”.

Paul Babai (Faithfold A) – the midfield powerhouse capped a towering display with two goals to help the Superhoops avoid a potential banana skin in the cup.

Alex Olcot (NL Raiders A) – one of the signings of the season. Olcot kept the L’Orange together when the going got tough and helped them end their Neasden B hoodoo with a last-gasp winner.

Steven Field (Brady Maccabi) – “dominated the game” against Montana A. Capped a sensational performance with a brilliant individual effort for the team’s fifth goal.

Dan Beckwith (Southgate Harmen B) – A hat-trick against Redbridge B saw Beckwith walk away with the match ball and the man-of-the-match award. His manager, Mark Engel, described him as different gravy. Ahh, Bisto!

Lee Cash (NW Neasden A) – Cash has been out of the headlines in recent weeks but his five-goal salvo ensured that there was no upset against Glenthorne A. Anyone who wants to find out more about one of the MSFL’s all time greats should check the JC Archives!

Joel Kutner (Blizzard Storm) – It was four of the best for King Kutner who took centre stage in the promotion six-pointer against Hendon C. He was the man with the midas touch as everything he touched turned to goals.
