There were a number of top-notch performances on Matchday One of the MGBSFL season, but this XI had real star quality.
1. JAKE DOFFMAN (Norstar London Raiders A) – “outstanding debut performance; aside from a fantastic penalty save he exuded confidence and the clean sheet was never in doubt”
2. SIMON BAGEL (SPEC FC) – “rock solid on his home debut. Dominated in the air and was assured on the deck with a clean sheet to boot”
3. CRAIG EDWARDS (North West Neasden) – “absolute rock at the back, won everything all day”
4. JEFF GOTCH (Catford & Bromley Maccabi) – “did not put a foot wrong all game, marshalled the back four with Luria and delivered a super free kick for the opener”
5. SIMEON COHEN (Jewdinese) – “did not lose a header and fought right until the end of the final whistle. Carried on through injury and carried the team during the first half”
6. DANIEL VANDERMOLEN (Blizzard Storm) – “drove his team on in the middle of the park, an outstanding display capped with a goal”
7. ARI LAST (Hendon United Sports Club A) – “a totally dominant midfield display against Faithfold”
8. KANE GILBERY (North West Neasden) – “two assists, had he's full-back’s number”
9. MIKE PEARSON (Faithfold A) – was as dangerous as ever against one of his former clubs and stepped up with a crucial winner after his team had been reduced to 10
10. RICHARD FOGELMAN (L’Equipe) – made a dream debut, smashing home five goals and chipping in with three assists
11. STEVEN BLACK (L’Equipe) – worked brilliantly in tandem with the El Schnitzelmano and was “deadly” in the box
