articlemain

After a record number of entries, here are the star performers from Matchday 9 of the MGBSFL.

1. MATT DAVIS (FC Team C) - nominated by both managers after helping the C's end the B's 100 per cent record, in his first outing in nets for three years. Pulled off a string of fine saves. Mitch Young described his performance as "exceptional" before going on to tag him the "best amateur Jewish keeper of our generation"

2. NICK ASTAIRE (ML Lions Blue)

3. NICK GOODMAKER (Catford & Bromley) - "exceptional in defence and left-wing forays, a constant threat. Directly involved in both Catford first goal. Exceptional in defence and going forward and made two of the best last-ditch tackles Adam Luria has "ever seen" in Sunday football"

4. CLIVE NATHAN (AC Whetstone) - nominated by both managers after "looking after" Danny Sherman and "did the job perfectly," not putting a foot wrong. His performance settled the young team

5. ARI NEVIES (Hendon A) - "the whole defence was superb, with Ari just the pick of the bunch with a totally faultless performance" at Faithfold

6. ROB HERSHKORN (Camden Park) - "talismanic skipper is in the form of his life at the moment, and bagged an important brace including a quite special 35-yard ping into the top corner to open the scoring, made all the more sweet as it was against his old club. An almost perfect day for Camden's no. 7 and worth every penny of the expensive transfer fee"

7. AVI MARKIWICZ (London Rovers) - "hat-trick and worked extremely hard, also setting up the first goal for Dovi Vogel and winning and completing his treble from the spot"

8. SIMON MOSES (Los Blancos) - "well-taken hat-trick" in the crucial win over SPEC FC, making it five goals in two games

9. DANNY SHERMAN (NW Neasden) - "first game up top, was superb, three goals, led the line and was involved in every thing good we did. Take a bow!"

10. JAMES GERSHFIELD (Harmen) - "it takes a special player to score a couple against the league leaders and Gersh showed that he is just that"

11. JAKE GILBERT (NL Raiders B) - SEE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MANAGERS: Joe Marsh, Oli Leslie, Joel Alterman (Harmen)
