Danny Caro's Team of the Week: February 26

articlemain

1. NICK RUBIN (Blizzard Storm) - “excelled” in the Barry Goldstein Cup win over Bilbaum

2. ADAM LISTER (Catford & Bromley Maccabi) - YOUNG PLAYER OF THE WEEK. At just 17, he was outstanding throughout the whole game. Strong tackling and got forward brilliantly to support to attack. His passing and strength caused Jewventus all kinds of problems and it was undoubtedly his best performance since joining Catford

3. PAUL SHONE (Woodford Wanderers) - “solid performance, lead from example”

4. ROBERT COHEN (Jewventus) - one of the top defenders in the lower divisions. One of the unsung heroes of the team

5. MICHAEL SACKS (North London Raiders A) - another outstanding performance from a first-class defender. Set up the Raiders goal and didn’t put a foot wrong in the cup semi-final against Hendon. Didn’t deserve to be on the losing team

6. DANIEL MATTEY (Athletico Finchley) - “once again, the new signing showed his class, running Boca ragged from the right of midfield. He came very close on three occasions and helped set up the move of the season with the most fantastic run of the whole pitch, beating three players. One spectator even said: “You just can’t teach that”

7. LUKE BROOKNER (Camden Park) - “was fantastic against Hendon - playing both wide left and behind the striker. He coupled his considerable talent with a excellent desire and work-rate, really leading by example. Won and converted a penalty, and whipped in the freekick which led to the winner. A constant threat and man-of-the-match after his goal and two assists. He’s been a tremendous signing and played an important part in the team’s last three games against Redbridge, Glenthorne and Hendon which has really been the crunch point in our push for promotion and title challenge.

8. GREG CORIN (Hendon Utd SC A) – SEE JC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

9. JONO GAON (Norstar B) - “has a pace, strength and a wonderful finish and the second goal of his hat-trick was outstanding”

10. JAMES GOLD (LM Lions B) - last week his manager said: “It’s not fair to nominate him every week,” but this week with a hat- trick and an assist against promotion-chasing Glenthorne, he said: “I’ve got to nominate him.” A strong contender for Division Two Player and Team of the Year”

11. DAN SHERMAN (Brixton Old Boys A) - scored his ninth league goal of the season for the club in the 3-0 success against Neasden B. And what a goal it was

JC MANAGER OF THE WEEK
