Danny Caro's Quote of the Week: September 16

articlemain

No-one was more excited than North London Raiders B joint-manager Zack Gothelf after Nicky Woolf's wonder goal against newly-promoted Scrabble FC.

There were high fives all round in the dug-out as Jonathan Adelman and Gothelf jumped around in the dug-out like a pair of five-year-olds. They simply could not believe what they had witnessed.

The JC panel of judges just loved Gothelf's post-match quip: "That goal from Nicky Woolf - that's what you get out of bed on a Sunday morning for!"

-------------------

BEST OF THE REST

- JONATHAN ADELMAN (Raiders B) - "we had just 12 players so couldn't play the high-tempo game we wanted to against an opposition we knew would use their rolling substitutions well. But wow, what an effort from our 12, every one of them was superb"

- DAVID GARBACZ (Hendon A) - "We will be challenging for this title come next year make no mistake about that"

- JASON STEIN (Oakwood B) - "We have to up our game because right now it is not good enough. Whatever you do in life you need to do it to the best of ones ability and right now that is not happening. I'll include myself in that. The away fans were right to boo today"

- AVI MARKIEWICZ (RCUK FC) - "Next week we are up against Si Linden's Temple Fortune, who have also won both of their matches, which is a big game for a few of us at RC as we used to play for him last year at Blizzard and despite the season not going quite to plan he was very enjoyable to play for, so hopefully that will be a cracker"

- JOSH HAMBLING (Redbridge JC C) - "The first of many jugs of beer for all RJC teams winning. A great day for the club"

- DAVID DOMB (NL Raiders C) - "Temple Fortune are a completely different team from last season. They're well organised and play some really excellent football. They'll go on to have a good season"

- JON JACOBS (Redbridge JC A) - "This is a game that Redbridge would have lost last season but there is a Plan B now with players more than happy to mix it when needed. The pitch didn’t help either team as it was bobbly but we will take the win, in the knowledge that you can’t play champagne football every week"
