Danny Caro's MGBSFL awards - September

There’s double delight for Norstar London Raiders after goalkeeper Jake Doffman and manager Phil Peters snapped up the top two awards for September.

Doffman Has made an excellent start to the season for the MGBSFL leaders, making key contributions in every game.

All eyes were on Peters at the start of the season after Norstar merged with North London Raiders but his men have hit the ground running, winning four games out of five. And, by all accounts, they were unlucky to draw against Hendon.

There have been some top performers in Division One but Shirley Park hotshot Jamie Kent gets the nod after his sensational start to the season lifted his team to the top of the table, albeit on goal difference.

Southgate Harmen and SPEC FC have also made encouraging starts, but it’s a 1-2 for the Shirley boys with Dave Lusman winning the top boss award.

Dropping down to Division Two, FC Team C turned heads when they lured captain James Joseph from Brady Maccabi B. It was a big decision for the midfield maestro who has hit the ground running and produced some top-notch performance as the boys in yellow and blue have ended their month with a perfect record, smashing home 21 goals in four games. Joseph’s qualities have been there for all to see and they will take some stopping. And the accolades keep coming for Team, with Michael Myers and Ben Gilbey claiming the division#s top managerial prize.

Goalkeeper Guy Ben-Aroya is the star man in Division Three. Manager Lester Jacobs, my top boss of the month, told JC Sport: “Given our 100 per cent start over the first four games, with everyone performing well, it would be easy to nominate any outfield player and forget about the underworked fella at the back. But whenever called to action Guy’s been alert, brave and, in my mind, remains the classiest and safest keeper in the MSFL.”
