Danny Caro's Goal of the Week: September 8

articlemain

There were some stunning strikes on Matchday 2 of the MGBSFL season, but this one in Division Two was the pick of the bunch.

WINNER: Paul Savitz (FC Team B) - a ball over the top from Dan Alfreds was controlled in the air with his first touch touch by Savitz who was running to meet it. Without letting the ball hit the ground he executed a perfect lob over the goalkeeper from 20 yards with his second touch to put the B’s 2-1 up. Some Premier League class in Division 2! The ref after the game commented on how it should be in GoTW so really this goal has been nominated twice!

------------------------------------

NOMINEES

- Ben Bertick (Jewdinese) - a wonder strike earned his team a point at L'Equipe

- Jonny Haik (Faithfold A) - a stunning effort against Brady

- Richard Baum (Brady A) - cut in from the right and unleashed an unstoppable left foot shot into the top corner from 25 yards

- Dan Pike (SPEC FC) - picked up the ball 25 yards out, held off a defender and curled the ball into the top right corner to make safe the three points

- Simon Peterman (FC Team A) - Finished off a nice passing move with a 30-yard shot which he curled into the top corner with his 'so-called' weaker foot

- Gilad Kestenbaum (Raiders B) - dropped his shoulder, swayed past two challenges and hammered a left footed effort from 25 yards in to the top corner before wheeling away in delight

- Rob Samuelson (Raiders B) - showed unbelievable tekkers to send a half-volley arrowing in to the bottom corner against AC

- James Joseph (FC Team C) - a superb chip for his first goal for Team

- Jeremy Julius (FC Team C) - he tried his hardest to walk the ball into the net but after taking it round several players in the box he slotted home to secure victory

- Dan Harrod (Brady B) - picked up the ball 25 yards out before beating a man and curling the ball inch-perfectly past the keeper. Another cracking finish

- Henry Ziff (Brady B) - controlled a cross over his shoulder with his right before volleying home with his weaker left foot from the edge of the area. Sheer class from the centre back!
