Manchester Maccabi 1st boss Stuart Delmonte hailed his side’s ‘fantastic attitude’ after they came from behind to claim their place in the third round of the Brian Brockbank Cup.

Michael Greene's strike and an own-goal sealed the win over Division Two rivals Hartshead following a bruising encounter.

And Delmonte says his side’s spirit and determination to fight back and win the game shows the strength of his team's resolve.

“It was a very good performance against a team who were very physical and used their brawn," he said.

"In the first half, it was all about our football skills against their physical approach and they kicked everything that moved.

"But we played some lovely one touch football and deserved the win.

"We showed great determination and team spirit and that got us through."

Despite falling behind early in the second half, Maccabi needed just 35 seconds to equalise when a looping cross from Greene from the left-hand corner of the penalty box went over the Hartshead goalkeeper's head.

And Maccabi turned the game on its head with just 10 minutes of the contest remaining when a visiting defender inadvertently turned Greene's corner into his own net.

"It was a great win, which was achieved without three senior players who had all played last week," added Delmonte.

"Hartshead beat us six weeks ago when they had 10 men so this was a very good performance."

Maccabi return to league action next week when they face British Protection.
