Crumpsall end league losing streak

articlemain

It was 13th time lucky for Crumpsall who ended their losing streak with a hard earned draw against fellow strugglers Sporting JLGB.

Crumpsall started the match in upbeat fashion, closing down Sporting and not allowing them any time on the ball.

These tactics paid off as in the fifth minute, Michael Pine seized on a loose ball to poke beyond Simon Shless in the Sporting goal.

This buoyed up Crumpsall who started to play some really nice football which was a joy to watch, although every time they got in on goal the strikers seemed to freeze and spurned their opportunities.

The failure to get a second goal came back to haunt Crumpsall late on as Sporting took control in the final 20 minutes.

Crumpsall's harrying and chasing finally caught up with them and Sporting took control of midfield. Crumpsall's resistance was finally broken when Adam Shwinger rose above Zevi Saunders to head into the bottom corner.

As Crumpsall became more and more nervous Shwinger had two late one -on -ones brilliantly save by Serge Fagleman in the Crumpsall goal.

Relief greeted the final whistle as Crumpsall realized they wouldn't be ending the season on the dreaded zero points.
