London Maccabi Vale frustrated by the weather

London Maccabi Vale’s final pre-season encounter ahead of the new Chess Valley campaign was curtailed by rain, but they can be pleased with their efforts before the weather intervened.

Hoping to continue their positive momentum ahead of next week’s opening fixture against Ickenham, Vale were put in to bat by Crouch End.

Ben Kohler (59) and Neil Lederman (58) both hit half-centuries, while Sam Clarfield (27) chipped in with an elegant knock on just his second appearance.

Aided by a series of lusty blows from Jonti Aremband at the back end of the innings, Vale posted 211-9 from their 40 overs.

Steven Allweis (3-19) then struck a trio of blows in a fiery opening spell that saw him bowl all three of his victims.

Before the game could advance much further, however, the heavens opened and play was halted. Despite squeezing in another handful of overs, the weather intervened once more and play was abandoned.

LMV head into next week’s opener having recorded one win and one draw from their pre-season warm-ups, and with batsmen in form should take confidence heading into the league campaign.
