FC Team A 2 Chigwell Athletic 4

First division Chigwell boosted their double hopes with an impressive win over FC Team A at Meadow Park.

Strikes from Daniel Castle, Jon Swead, Paul Lenchner and Neil Tilley took them through.

Castle put the visitors in front after just three minutes with a header from a Craig Pearl free kick.

Team turned the tie on its head to lead 2-1 but defender Jon Swead levelled for Chigwell, scrambling the ball over the line from a Richard Slater corner after 70 minutes.

Chigwell stepped up a gear with Lenchner pulling off a great take in the air and cool finish with outside of boot to make it 3-2, again from Pearl free kick 10 minutes from time. Tilley sealed the tie with a cool finish in the 88th minute.

Delighted Chigwell boss Richard Slater told JC Sport: "We fully deserved that today, from start to finish we dominated the game. It's a shame we conceded two cheap goals but I can't fault the lads today.

"Even at 2-2, when FC Team just scored we never let our heads drop. Effort and work rate were outstanding, especially as we were missing four key players.

"Every player was over 30 today, great performance. It's done now and we're in the quarters, so full attention on Montana in the league next week."

Chigwell: Rob Shepherdson, Alex Norman, Paul Lenchner, Jon Swead, Russell Yershon, Richard Slater, Craig Pearl, Daniel Castle, Anthony Mendel, Neil Tilley. Lloyd Becker (sub: Glenn Davis 89)
