South Manchester picked up their first win of the season against a rusty Oakhill Lions.

Oakhill, who have only had two training sessions this season, looked out of sorts and South Manchester capitalised.

Goals from Neil Collins and Michael Hurz were enough to seal the victory.

Oakhill scored one - an excellent finish from Saul Hoyland, but manager Josh Josh Daniels says that was the only positive he could take from the game.

"I genuinely thought we were the better team," Daniels told JC Sport. "South played well, but we should have taken something from the game.

"Our lack of fitness showed; we created good chances but were hit on the counter attack. Their two goals were both from set pieces which just shows how we haven’t quite gelled yet."

Oakhill have signed Arthur Caplin from Hendon A and he produced a fine display in goal, as well as Charles Braunstein in the centre of defence.

Daniels went on to say: "Arthur Caplin showed his quality and we are really happy to have him on board. Charles Branstein is another new signing and looked really astute in defence."

Oakhill are still looking to finish the season top of the table and Daniels believes his side can. "I certainly think we can do well. We have quality in the team and I believe we will show that this season.

"All teams seem to be fairly similar in level so there is no reason why we cant challenge right up there."
