Israel midfielder Nir Biton has agreed terms with Celtic.
Ashdod owner Jacky Ben Zaken is in talks with the SPL champions and is asking for £700,000 for the player plus 20 per cent of any future sale.
Biton, 21, was invited for trials at Manchester City last summer and Spurs in January but he would not have qualified for a work visa.
Since then, Biton has increased his number of appearances for Israel to six and captained the national at the European under-21 Championships.
It is now thought he would be granted a work permit and if he joins Celtic he would link up with compatriot Beram Kayal and former Ashdod teammate, Nigerian international Efe Ambrose.
"It is flattering to be linked to a club like Celtic," said Biton, who looks set to sign a four-year deal.
