Nothing will hold me back, says Burnham

Josh Burnham is confident he will overcome Sonny Whiting ahead of his third professional fight this weekend.

The Bushey middleweight has been out of the ring since beating Konstantin Alexandrov in September due to a hand injury, which he suffered in training two months later.

Now he is relishing taking on fellow Englishman Whiting, who has had 27 fights.

“This will be a good test,” said Burnham. “I’m sure he will come and have a go.”

Burnham has been working with a new coach in Don Charles, but says his boxing style remains the same.

“I’m a naturally aggressive fighter, an aggressive counter-puncher if you like.

“Don has got his own style and I’ve been training hard, without over-doing it.

“If all goes to plan at York Hall on Saturday night, I will have a short rest to recover and then return to the gym.

“I want to get on to some good cards towards the end of the year and have a couple more bouts, ideally an eight or 10 rounder.”
