Brenner’s bonanza

articlemain

Twelve-year-old sensation Marc Brenner saw off a field in excess of 140 players to win the HSBC Wee Wonders Regional Championships at Aldwickbury Park, Herts.

The King Solomon pupil from Chigwell will now play in the grand final at St Andrews in Scotland next month.

Trained by Clive Tucker, who also coaches professional player Graeme McDowell’s, Brenner took up the sport aged two. He won the HSBC tournament with a score of one under par and said: “This is one of the best events I have won.

I felt really good and played well throughout. It was a tough competition but I just kept believing that I could win it.”

He started 2008 in style by being awarded the Highest Achievement Award from the Essex Golf Union for outstanding County Achievement.

Proud father Russell said: “Marc has been playing exceptionally well and to see him birdie holes is simply outstanding. I am very proud of his achievements.”
