Brady and Faithfold reach cup final

articlemain

This year's Maccabi Masters League Henry Swerner Cup will be contested by Brady Maccabi A and Faithfold who came through their respective semi-finals.

Brady kept alive their double hopes after edging out North London Raiders 3-2 courtesy of a brace from Mark Wagman and a penalty from Nick Collins. Spencer Steinberg and Paul Herszaft struck for the Raiders.

Faithfold booked their place in the May 16 final after bypassing newly-crowned Division Two champions EDRS Stonegrove 5-2.

Joel Nathan fired a four-goal salvo with Jason Levy grabbing the other. Phil Silver scored both goals for an EDRS team who suffered their first defeat of the season in their final match.

In the league, table toppers Glenthorne United A ended the campaign with a 3-0 success over South Mancunians in Division One. Richard Goldstein (2) and Elliot Mullish took Glenthorne six points clear of Brady, who have three games in hand. A playoff could decide the title if Brady win their remaining matches.

Steve Feiger (2), Ian Goldsmith and Howard Star were on the mark as Division Two runners-up Norstar Old Boys thumped Glenthorne B 4-0.

Robert Botkai, Gary Burns, Jeremy Fess and an own goal steered Temple Fortune to a 4-2 win over Clayhall Park Casuals. Mark Goldman and Paul Moss replied.
