Blackman signs for Norstar

articlemain

Norstar last night completed the signing of Brixton starlet Rob Blackman who signed a three-year contract with the MSFL Premier Division club.

Brixton decided to cash-in on the player who was in the final year of his contract and the i's were dotted and t's crossed over a slap-up dinner in north-west London.

Blackman, who was featured in the JC Player Profile only last week, will be handed the number 69 shirt recently vacated by Jeff Gotch, which is appropriate as along with deep-lying forward this is his favourite position.

Norstar boss Phil Peters was naturally delighted with his latest acquisition: "Who could say no to a player of Rob's calibre? The chance to snap up a genuine MSFL superstar doesn't come around that often and when Rob let me know he was interested we jumped at the opportunity.

"Jamie (Slavin) and I first noticed Rob's talents ahead of the EMFT last summer and selected him for then squad where he turned out to be one of GB's star performers. A summer move was never on the table but we never stopped believing that one day we could make it happen.

"I believe our victory over Brixton on Sunday may have been the tipping point, but certainly Rob's heart has been away from Brixton for some time and it was just a matter of him finding the right home. We are sure Norstar will offer him the fresh challenge he is craving."

Blackman gave an intimate interview to the fans last night that left them in no doubt that he's up for the fight. He said: "I loved my two-and-a-half years at Brixton and am grateful for everything they've done for me, but it was time to move and the vision Phil and Slav have for Norstar was too exciting to ignore.

"We've got a battle on our hands to survive, but we're capable of playing our way out of it. There's nowhere I'd rather be right now and it will be an honour to pull on the 69 shirt on Sunday morning."

Blackman could feature against SPEC FC in the Peter Morrison trophy this weekend at Hatfield and our betting partners have him at 40/1 to bag a hat-trick... Who would bet against it?
