Benayoun nearing Chelsea move

articlemain

Reports from Israel indicate that Yossi Benayoun will move from Liverpool to Chelsea in the coming days.

Liverpool have already rejected a £4 million offer from Chelsea and are asking £8 million for the Israel captain. The two teams are expected to compromise on £6 million.

Dynamo Moscow have reportedly made a higher offer for Benayoun but the midfielder is insistent that he would rather move to Stamford Bridge.

Benayoun joined Liverpool from West Ham in the summer of 2007 but fell out with Rafa Benitez in recent weeks because he felt he was spending too much time on the bench. The Reds are also deep in debt and need to sell if they want to reshape their squad.

Chelsea want Benayoun, 30, to replace Joe Cole who is out of contract and refusing to compromise on his salary demand of £120,000 a week. Benayoun earns £75,000 a week at Anfield after signing an improved four-year deal last summer.

Last week Benayoun told Israeli team mates that Carlo Ancelotti wants him at Chelsea and that he expects to be moving to London.
