Raanana maintained their perfect start to the new season with a convincing 7-0 win over league newcomers Real Jerusalem.

The game started slowly, with both teams making some sloppy mistakes, but the breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Raanana super striker Aviad Ben Meir was put through on goal and slipped the ball past the Real keeper.

The second goal came soon after when Ben Meir ran on to a ball put over the top and lobbed the onrushing 'keeper.

Raanana netted a third on the stroke of half time, when Haim Elimelech capitalised on some slick passing in the middle from Ben Meir and Akiva.

The goals continued to flow for Raanana in the second half. Naphtalie Kanichowsky's free-kick was parried by the keeper, allowing Aviad to fire home the rebound.

At 4-0 the game became a little aggressive and the yellow cards started coming out, but this was Raanana’s day and the last 20 minutes saw another three goals, one more for Akiva Aronson, another for Ben Meir and one for Raanana debutante Aviv Cohen.

Man of the match was Ben Meir after scoring four, but this was a great team performance. Raanana seem to have found a balance of youth and experience and manager Moshe Freedman has high hopes for the rest of the season.

Freedman said: "We did not expect to win with such conviction; the players really came together as a team. I think our new additions from Anglia FC gave us the experience in the back we lacked last season. We hope we will keep up this level of performance for the whole season."
