Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim has joined Sunderland on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.

Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim has joined Sunderland on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season. As predicted last month, Ben Haim, 26, has been reunited with manager Ricky Sbragia, who was his assistant-manager during his time at Bolton. “I’ve worked with him previously and I know what I'm getting,” said Sbragia. “It’s been a position we've been short in so I’m delighted that Tal has joined us. He’s got a lot of top-flight experience and he’ll be a great addition to our squad.” Ben Haim joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Bolton in June 2007 before moving to City in July 2008. He has found chances limited at Eastlands. He has joined Sunderland with an option to buy him for £1,000,000.
