BECC over-powered by Croxley Guild

articlemain

Belmont & Edgware suffered a heavy defeat in a friendly match against Croxley Guild.

On a very hot day, BECC lost the toss and were made to toil in the field. Newcomer Joe Saleh gave BECC some hope with two early wickets, but that was as good as it got as Croxley stepped up a gear and smashed the ball to all parts.

To their credit, BECC did not give up and worked their socks off in the field. Simon Braham and Nick Mcleod produced some great stops, while the evergreen Ellis Turhim claimed a wicked with his first ball to rise some smiles from his teammates. Croxley concluded their innings with a total of 285-3 from 35 overs.

The BECC response did not go well. Phil Mayer went quickly and Reid tried his best but all his good shots went straight to the fielders. Only Adam Jacobs in the top-order put up a fight and made a knock of 29.

After Jacobs went it was up to lower order of Michael Blasebalk, Saleh and Ryan Monk to get the score over 100.

With the team well behind the run-rate, Blasebalk and Monk started to play some flambuoyant shots. Blasebalk was eventually caught at slip for a well made 23, leaving Monk unbeaten on 19 as BECC were dismissed for 128.
