articlemain

An excellent team performance inspired Belmont & Edgware 2nd to an important victory over London Maccabi Vale 2nd in Division Three of the Middlesex Sunday Cricket League.

Vale won the toss and elected to field. Michael Blasebalk and Alex Goodman put on 55 for the first wicket before Jonny Evans and Goodman carried on the serene progress until drinks brought about a sudden shift in the momentum of the game and with good bowling from Simon Renshaw, BECC lost four wickets for two runs.

Jonny Reid and Adam Jacobs steadied the ship before Jacobs (31) and Ami Wynbourne (29*) put on a crucial partnership to steer BECC to a defendable total of 165.

Gideon Restan (5.1-2-10-2) bowled brilliantly with the new ball, ably supported by Goodman (two wickets). Evans (8-0-26-1) and Myeroff (8-1-23-1) tightened the screw before Simon Taylor (2-0-11-3) destroyed the lower middle order.

Goodman and Restan then cleaned up the tail to bowl Vale out for 107, completing a strong and disciplined bowling performance, to give BECC a comprehensive victory by 58 runs.
