Anekstein preview: meet Redbridge Jewish Care

articlemain

A BRIEF HISTORY...
The team was established 20 years ago by Micky Brown, Mickey Tabor and Lee Silver - all three had sons playing for the Barkingside Jewish Youth FC team that started in Division Five of the MSFL. After two successful seasons the club broke away as an independent Barkingside United. Having successfully worked their way up to the Premier Division in 2006, Redbridge Jewish Care integrated with Sinclair House having men’s teams and youth teams as Barkingside and Redbridge which after two seasons evolved into the present RJC team. This partnership led to the successful 2010/2011 season in which the league and cup double was achieved under the stewardship of Sam McCarthy, Danny Berg and the captaincy of Adam Hakimi. Today the club is ably led by Jon Jacobs, Richard Bronzite and Lee Silver who have helped the club return to Sunday's final and challenge for the league title, as well as reach the last four of the national cup. The club recognises the efforts of past managers Micky Brown, Steve Ritterbaum, Trevor Moss and Greg Bookman leading to the present manager who has led them for the last two seasons Eilon Kennet, along with coach Danny Berg.

DANIEL LEE (Goalkeeper)
Has been ever present the last three seasons, fantastic agility and loves his swimming. Best keeper in Jewish football, according to Bergy!

SAM McCARTHY (Jnr) (Full-back)
Mouth, energy, anger and more mouth! Keeps the team alive with his no nonsense attitude.

JOEL BERG (Defender)
A strong centre half, good in the air plus very cool on the ball and always leads the team. Knows Wingate inside out.

BRAD FRANKEL
A powerful man who has literally run through brick walls for the cause. A traveller at heart.

ADAM HAKIMI (Captain/defender)
Reads the game very will and excellent in the tackle and in the air. Looking for his third Anekstein title.

BEN GRAHAM (Left-mid)
Gorgeous on the eye and left foot to match. First season at the club and is turning Essex heads already.

RICHIE CAPLIN (Defender/winger)
Solid defender or flying winger, growing into a charming young man and is becoming an MSFL great.

ALEX DAVIS (Winger)
Deadline day signing who is part of the youth team at Wingate. Has already shown he has a bright future down the right wing.

DANNY HAKIMI (Vice captain/midfielder)
Seems like his been around forever and now playing the best football of his career. Gets the team playing from the middle.

STEVE GEVERTZ (Player-coach/Midfielder)
Big, big, big lad who thrives on headers, tackles and meat. Takes a fun training session and a secret superstar ibiza DJ.

BEN SOLLOSI (Midfielder)
Ben is more composed than Mozart, looks at ease with the ball at his feet and can thread a pass through the tightest of defences. Is now a lover not a fighter and former JC MSFL Young Player of the Year.

JACK VAN GELDER (Midfielder)
Comes from a great football pedigree and anyone with hair envy look away now. Great on the ball and gonna be a star for years to come.

SAM SOLLOSI
Got a touch of a pro, Ben's little bro, he's from the Sollosi ghetto and shows flashes of Leo (Messi).

DANIEL SUGARMAN (Defender)
The Ryan giggs of Redbridge, nearly 40 but looks and runs like his 21. Living the dream with a beautiful family.

STEVE SUMMERS (Striker)
Has the ability to create a goal out of nothing, hold up play is as good as it gets. Idolised by all around him and his three little angels at home.

ADAM STOLERMAN (Striker)
Top goal-scorer with two great feet and goal machine. Loves a meal and is a converted Essex chap.

GAFFER: EILON KENNET
Has won this cup four times. Been there and done it as a player and manager. Passionate and in his second season at the club.

ASSISTANT-MANAGER/COACH: DANNY BERG
Bergy's done it all as a player and helped lead the team for six seasons now. Kicks every ball on the sidelines and keeps it fun for all involved.

Unsung heroes
Lee Silver, Jon Jacobs, Richard Bronzite, Micky Brown and Micky Tabor. Behind the scenes have not only setup the club but kept it running through thick and thin.

A note for the fans
